Virtual Breakfast with Healthcare Champions
Featuring: Christine Candio, FACHE

ACHE of MA is excited to present Christine Candio, FACHE to kick off our Virtual Breakfast with Healthcare Champions series! Join us on Thursday, August 6 starting at 7:00 am for a morning of networking and inspiration.

We will start the session by utilizing the breakout room feature for a half hour of networking. Are you a coffee, tea or juice drinker? Pick one on the registration form, and that’s the room that you will join when you log on in the morning to network in!

At 7:30 am we will all come together to hear Christine share her incredible career journey. From beginning her career as a nurse, to progressing through nursing leadership ranks at several hospitals and gaining extensive healthcare operations and senior executive leadership experience in both acute care and outpatient settings during the past three decades, she truly is a healthcare champion, and one who’s story we cannot wait to share!

Meet Our Presenter: 

Christine Candio was president and chief executive officer of St. Luke’s Hospital, St. Louis, Mo. from January 2015 through April 1, 2020. Prior to joining St. Luke’s, she served over six years as CEO of Inova Alexandria Hospital in northern Virginia and as senior Vice President of Inova Health System.

Ms. Candio began her career as a nurse, progressed through nursing leadership ranks at several hospitals and gained extensive healthcare operations and senior executive leadership experience in both acute care and outpatient settings during the past three decades.

She hold a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from William Paterson University of New Jersey and a Master of Public Administration degree with a focus in healthcare management from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

As a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, she is board-certified in healthcare management and is a Past Chairman of the American College of Healthcare Executives, which is an international professional society of more than 40,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations.

She has served on the boards of many other professional and community organizations and has been a guest speaker at numerous healthcare conferences throughout the county. Currently, she is the Chairman of the external advisory committee of the George Washington University MHA Program, Washington, DC.

Ms. Candio is the recipient of the 2019 ACHE Gold Medal Award, the highest honor bestowed on healthcare leaders who have made meaningful contributions to the healthcare industry. Also, in 2019 she was awarded the Missouri Hospital Association Distinguished Service Award for her ongoing commitment to improving healthcare policy and leadership in Missouri and throughout the nation. In addition, Ms. Candio was named one of the 2017 Most Influential Business Women by the St. Louis Business Journal, recognized by Healthcare as one of 10 “Women to Watch in Healthcare” in 2017 and the recipient of the Healthcare Accomplishment Recognition Award for Healthcare Industry Leadership from the Businesswomen’s Association. In 2014, she was recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review on the list of “24 the Leading Women to Know in Healthcare.” She is also a recipient of the 2012 Washington Brava! Award, which celebrates top female CEOs who demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit along with passion for giving back to the community.
