SUMMARY:WEBINAR: Healthcare's Paradigm Shift
DESCRIPTION:Connecticut’s Virtual Annual Meeting\n“Healthcare’s Paradigm Shift”\n\nThursday\, June 18th\, 2020\n5:00 pm – 7:00 pm\nProgram will be approved for 1.5 ACHE Qualified Education \nThe Connecticut Association of Healthcare Executives is hosting a virtual annual meeting on June 18\, inviting all of our members\, sponsors and friends from the ACHE Massachusetts and ACHE Rhode Island Chapters to come together in a virtual environment to begin to heal from this unprecedented healthcare crisis. \nA paradigm shift\, as identified by the American physicist and philosopher Thomas Kuhn\, is a fundamental change in the basic concepts and experimental practices of a scientific discipline. Paradigm shifts arise when the dominant paradigm under which normal science operates is rendered incompatible with new phenomena\, facilitating the adoption of a new theory or paradigm. \nIt is imperative that every healthcare professional realizes the healthcare landscape has completely changed. Clinical skills and services alone will not see us through this new paradigm after COVID-19. \nWe must focus on improving the health outcomes\, and the distribution of such outcomes\, through quality improvement\, improved workflows and systems of care within the communities we serve. \nFeaturing “Micro-Keynote” Sessions Presented by:\n-Dr. David Gruen\, Deputy Chief Medical Officer for IBM Watson Health on “Burnout in Healthcare”\n-Dr. Barry Stein\, Vice President and Chief Clinical Innovation Officer for Hartford Healthcare on “Crisis Innovation” \n-Panel Discussion: “COVID-19 Impact: Health Disparities On At-Risk Populations”\nFeaturing:\n-Dr. Linda Barry from the UConn School of Public Health\n-Maritza Bond\, MPH\, Director of Health for the City of New Haven\n-Dr. Tekisha Everette\, Executive Director of Health Equity Solutions\n-Sarah S. For diverse communities\, it has put a stark spotlight on the massive disparities they face in health conditions\, access to care and further emphasized the need to pay more attention to the social determinants of health. Compounding the coronavirus challenges\, horrifying acts of racism and violence against people of color were publicly exposed\, putting yet another spotlight on inequities that have existed in our country for centuries and establishing without a doubt\, that racism is a public health crisis. \nAs the pandemic merged individual and societal needs\, providers\, healthcare leaders\, insurance companies\, government and citizens did what had to be done despite all of the existing barriers.
