DESCRIPTION:ACHE’s Conversations with Healthcare Champions features in-depth interviews with healthcare’s most distinguished and influential leaders in a range of disciplines.  \n \nDr. Keroack provides strategic\, financial\, and operational oversight for all services at Baystate Health and its subsidiary health plan\, Health New England. Under his leadership\, Baystate Health has expanded its clinical services\, incorporating two new community hospitals and growing its outpatient practices across the region. The system has been a national leader in adopting population-based approaches to care\, emphasizing prevention\, wellness\, care integration\, and cost containment under a global budget. Baystate Health also has enhanced its role as the sole academic medical center in western Massachusetts\, growing its tertiary services\, elevating its research programs\, and opening a regional medical campus of UMass Chan Medical School. \nDr. Keroack served as Baystate Health’s chief operating officer from 2013 – 2014 and as its chief physician executive from 2011 – 2013. He came to Baystate Health from University HealthSystem Consortium in Oak Brook\, Illinois\, where he served as chief medical officer for 10 years. Prior to his national work\, he served on the faculty of UMass Chan for 12 years\, where he focused on HIV and AIDS care and won five annual teaching awards. Beginning in 1995\, Dr. Kerock took on a more administrative role\, serving as the first president of the 700-physician UMass Memorial Medical Group. He has authored over 50 publications. \nDr. Keroack is a graduate of Amherst College and Harvard Medical School and received his MPH from Boston University. He trained in internal medicine and infectious diseases at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He serves on several local boards focused on improving the quality of life in his native Springfield and across western Massachusetts\, as well as several state and national boards. He is married to Dr. Ann Errichetti\, and they have two grown daughters now living in Massachusetts and Vermont. \nJoin us at our Conversations With Healthcare Champions Series and hear from healthcare’s top leaders.

DESCRIPTION:FRIDAY\, FEBRUARY 16\, 9:00-10:00AM \nREGISTER HERE \nIn the first of ACHE of MA’s Conversations with Healthcare Champions 2024 series\, we are thrilled to hear from Dr. Denise De Las Nueces\, Interim CEO and Chief Medical Officer of the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP)\, an integrated team of over 600 medical and behavioral health staff\, social service providers\, and support staff committed to ensuring and delivering equitable and dignified access to comprehensive\, high-quality health care. \nBHCHP provides medical care\, behavioral health care\, youth and family services\, and case management to nearly 10\,000 individuals (adults and children) experiencing homelessness in Boston and beyond each year and serves as an innovator and thought leader at the intersection of health care and homelessness locally\, nationally\, and internationally. \nDENISE DE LAS NUECES MD\, MPH\, is a board-certified internal medicine physician and addiction medicine specialist with a focus on vulnerable populations. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University and subsequently studied at Harvard Medical School\, where she received an MD in 2008. She trained at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program from 2008 to 2011. \nUpon completion of residency training\, Dr. De Las Nueces was granted a Commonwealth Fund Mongan Fellowship in Minority Health Policy\, completing a Master of Public Health degree in Health Policy from the Harvard School of Public Health in 2012. She joined the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) in 2012. Dr. De Las Nueces was recognized in 2014 as one of Boston’s Top 40 under 40 Leaders by the Boston Business Journal and received a 40 Under 40 Leaders in Health Award in 2018 from the National Minority Quality Forum. He oversees MHA’s mission to create a more accessible\, equitable\, and coordinated healthcare system for patients on behalf of the association’s 70-plus hospital and health system members. \nSteve has been a leading voice for the advancement of Massachusetts healthcare for more than two decades. He previously served as the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Council of Community Hospitals (MCCH)\, where he led innovative change in care delivery\, policy\, and regulation to meet the unique needs of community hospitals across the commonwealth. \nPrior to MCCH\, Walsh served six terms in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and was appointed Chair of the House Committee on Health Care Financing in 2011. He wrote and oversaw passage of the commonwealth’s 2012 landmark healthcare reform law\, Chapter 224\, which incentivized utilization of alternative payment methodologies and investment in community health\, while encouraging patient empowerment and primary care. He was also a conferee of Chapter 288 of the Acts of 2010\, the commonwealth’s small business healthcare legislation. \nDuring his time at MHA\, Steve has served as a central coordinator in the healthcare community’s response to the COVID-19 crisis\, championed passage of a historic Medicaid waiver to accelerate health equity and care quality in Massachusetts hospitals\, and led the system’s efforts to support and advance the healthcare workforce. \nSteve is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives (ACHE)\, has twice been named to Boston Magazine’s list of Most Influential Bostonians\, and is regularly among Modern Healthcare’s 300 Most Influential People in Healthcare. \nSteve is a graduate of Wesleyan University\, the New England School of Law\, and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
