SUMMARY:ACHE of MA Fall Conference 2018 Co-sponsored by the Massachusetts Health and Hospital Association: Disruptive Technology: Healthcare’s Savior?
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, November 1\, 2018\n7:00 AM – Noon\nDoubleTree by Hilton\n5400 Computer Drive\, Westborough\, MA\n(Continental breakfast and lunch included.) \nPowerful entrenched special interests have defeated efforts to reform the US health care system back to the days of FDR’s Administration. Just since 1960\, US healthcare spending has risen from $27B to $3\,500B\, increasing the annual spend per US resident from $150 to over $10\,000! Healthcare’s share of our GDP has grown from a hefty 5% to a gigantic 19%. The voracious healthcare beast is starving other vital social needs\, with catastrophic results for our citizens\, businesses and government and even our own health care industry. \n \nYet\, while the national spending is rocketing upward\, US national health status\, which was only mediocre to begin with\, is getting worse and life expectancies are going down. According to the WHO’s ranking of the world’s health systems\, the US only ranked #37\, behind Andorra (#4)\, Greece (#14)\, Columbia (#22)\, Cyprus (#24)\, Morocco (#29) and Costa Rica (#36)\, and just one notch above Slovenia (#38). \nEnter disruptive technologies and innovation: artificial intelligence\, genomic engineering\, miniaturization\, big data\, and new pharmaceuticals. Massive investments are being made by all sorts of economic sectors inside and outside the health care industry — venture capital firms\, big pharma\, small start-ups\, IT\, backyard /garage incubators\, government payers\, commercial payers\, and academic medical centers\, all searching for the same thing: Higher quality\, better outcomes\, more access\, lower costs and happier/healthier patients. \nThis conference continues ACHE of Massachusetts’ focus on the people and companies making this all happen and who will either constructively contribute to the new health care paradigm (and spend billions doing it) or go down trying. This is another “Can’t Miss” conference for leaders of health care organizations that don’t want to be left behind in the cyberdust! \nKeynotes\n\nMichael Weissel\, Executive Vice President\, Optum\nTerri Bresenham\, Chief Innovation Officer\, GE Healthcare\n\nPanelists\n\nChris Coburn\, Chief Innovation Officer\, Partners HealthCare and President\, Partners HealthCare International\nPatricia Forts\, Deputy Chief of Innovation and Strategy\, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care\nIyah Romm\, Founder and CEO\, City Block\nMason Russell\, Portfolio Leader of Global Value and Market Access\, IBM Watson Health\nSarah Sossong\, FACHE\, Principal\, Flare Capital Partners\nModerator: Peter Shorett\, Senior Partner\, The Chartis Group\n\nSpeaker Bios \nAgenda\n\n\n\n7:00 AM\nRegistration\, Breakfast and Networking\n\n\n7:30 AM\nOpening Remarks\, Service Awards and Annual Meeting \n\nAndrea Paciello\, FACHE\, ACHE of MA President\, Executive Director\, Teaching & Education\, Massachusetts General Hospital\n\n\n\n\n8:00 AM\nMichael Weissel\n\n\n8:45 AM\nTerri Bresenham\n\n\n9:30 AM\nNetworking Break\n\n\n10:00 AM\nPanel Discussion\n\n\n11:45 AM\nClosing Remarks\n\n\n11:50 PM\nLunch\n\n\n\nInvestment\n$199 ACHE of Massachusetts/ACHE Members\n$199 MHA Members\n$299 Non-members (Join ACHE to receive the Member Rate.)\n*$35 Healthcare Administration Students and those “In Transition”\n*Students must be in a full-time Healthcare Administration Master’s Program. SUMMARY:ACHE of MA Conference Presented by the Central/Western MA Local Area Council: A New World: Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, November 16\, 2018\n8:00 AM – Noon\nShriners Hospital\n516 Carew Street\, Springfield\, MA \n\n\nEverywhere today’s healthcare executive turns there is another article or program touting the merits of AI in healthcare. Join us as we focus the discussion on using AI from many vantage points. Now that we have the data\, how can we use it to truly make an impact on patient care? Can AI balance your budget? Can it improve efficiency and help with patient access? Can it help with current and future provider shortages? How will nurses and other non-physician providers benefit from AI? What are the ethical considerations for using AI in healthcare? We have asked experts to come and share their knowledge and perspectives with us in what promises to be a very interesting morning. \nKeynotes\n\nChaitanya Dahagam\, MD\, Business Development Executive\, IBM Watson Health\nJoel Vengco\, Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer\, Baystate Health\n\nPanelists\n\nJohn Danahey\, Vice President\, Sales & Marketing\, Iatric Systems\, Inc.\nMark Sugrue\, MSN\, RN-BC\, Chief Nursing Informatics Officer and Associate Chief Nursing Officer\, Professional Practice\, UMass Memorial Medical Center\nJulie Yoo\, Chief Strategy Officer & Co-Founder\, Kyruus\, Inc.\nYiDing Yu\, MD\, Serial Entrepreneur in AI and digital health; Founder of Twiage; Physician at Atrius Health\nModerator: Bruno Nardone\, FACHE\, Senior Vice President\, Solutions – Connected Health and Population Health\, NextGen Healthcare\nAnd our Keynotes\n\nSpeaker Bios \nAgenda\n\n\n\n8:00 AM\nRegistration\, Breakfast and Networking\n\n\n8:25 AM\nOpening Remarks\n\n\n8:30 AM\nKeynote: \n\nJoel Vengco\, Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer\, Baystate Health\n\n\n\n\n9:15 AM\nKeynote: \n\nChaitanya Dahagam\, MD\, Business Development Executive\, IBM Watson Health\n\n\n\n\n10:00 AM\nNetworking Break\n\n\n10:30 AM\nPanel Discussion\n\n\nNoon\nClosing Remarks\n\n\n12:05 PM\nLunch and optional tour of Shriners following lunch\n\n\n\nInvestment\n$99 ACHE of Massachusetts/ACHE Members\n$99 HIMSS New England Members\n$150 Non-members (Join ACHE to receive the Member Rate.)\n*$35 Healthcare Administration Students and those “In Transition” \n*Students must be in a full-time Healthcare Administration Master’s Program.
